Apollo Crews, born Sesugh Isaac Uhaa on 22 August 1987 in Sacramento, California, is an American professional wrestler of Nigerian descent, whose father hails from Benue State. He competed in WWE under the ring name Apollo Crews.
Uhaa began his wrestling career in 2009, initially under the ring name Uhaa Nation, breaking through in 2011 when signed by Dragon Gate USA. He signed with WWE in 2015, joining the NXT brand, where he was given the ring name Apollo Crews, before being promoted to WWE's main roster in April 2016. In 2021, he was repackaged with a character explicitly presented as Nigerian royalty, incorporating a Nigerian accent and imagery into his promos, memorably defeating Big E in a Nigerian Drum Fight at WrestleMania 37 to win the WWE Intercontinental Championship. He was released from WWE in 2026.
Won the WWE United States Championship (2020) and WWE Intercontinental Championship (WrestleMania 37, 2021).
Crews' 2021 reinvention as a character explicitly rooted in Nigerian royalty brought unusually direct and visible representation of Tiv and Nigerian heritage to a global WWE audience.
